Meet Jack Guay

Jack Guay leads a variety of guided adventures, including the Elbert Summit Hike, and supports our team throughout the winter season.

Jack Guay

As the current Administrative Coordinator of Apex Mountain School Jack Guay oversees marketing, social media, program development, day to day operations, and gear maintenance. Jack is also currently training to be a guide in the following activities: rock climbing, ice climbing, mountaineering, and backcountry skiing.

 

A recent graduate of The Pennsylvania State University, Jack has a degree in Park, Recreation, and Tourism Management with a concentration in Adventure Programming. During his time in college Jack built skills in leadership, group dynamics, team facilitation, backpacking, technical climbing, and alpine travel. He applied these skills to a 1,000 mile section hike of the Appalachian trail, as well as 3 different professional jobs as an adventure recreation guide within the areas of his focus.

During the summer of 2017 Jack worked for Avid4 Adventure, one of the top adventure recreation summer camps in the country, as an Adventure educator. As an Adventure Educator Jack instructed the following activities: rock climbing, backpacking, hiking, mountain biking, tree climbing, kayaking, canoeing, standup paddle boarding, and archery. For the summer of 2018 Jack worked for Lasting Adventures, Yosemite National Parks number 1 guide service, as a backpacking guide leading youth in 6 to 13 day expeditions in the backcountry. For his Junior and Senior year in college Jack worked for Pennstate Outdoor Adventures, guiding students in activities such as rock climbing, backpacking, mountaineering, and white-water rafting.

Jack has built a career around adventure-based recreation and seeks to continually developed his skills in this field. Jack does this to create and facilitate experiences for participants that helps them develop connections to naturals places while instilling a passion for outdoor and adventure recreation in them.
