Backcountry Skiing Colorado
Discover Colorado’s untouched winter wilderness with an exhilarating backcountry skiing adventure.
How do I know which backcountry skiing level to choose?
The division into levels on our page is meant as a general guide to help you get started, but there’s no need to worry about picking the perfect fit. No matter what level you book, we’ll reach out to you in advance to discuss your experience, goals, and expectations, and then create a customized itinerary that suits you best.
How fit do I need to be for backcountry skiing?
Backcountry skiing can be physically demanding, but doesn’t have to be and our guides adapt the pace and terrain to suit all fitness levels, making it an excellent choice for everyone from beginners to advanced skiers. As long as you’re comfortable skiing on groomed runs and have a moderate level of fitness, you’ll be able to enjoy the trip. If you’re looking to build your skills and confidence, we also offer Avalanche Education. If you have any concerns, feel free to reach out, and we can discuss what’s best for you.
Do I need avalanche training before joining a trip?
No prior avalanche training is required for our guided trips, but having some knowledge is always a plus. Our guides are experienced and will provide you with a brief safety overview and instruction on using avalanche safety gear during the trip. If you’re interested in learning more, we also offer a variety of Avalanche Education courses for all skill levels.
Can we request a specific area or route for our backcountry trip?
We do operate within a variety of terrain where our guides and instructors are permitted to operate, and our knowledgeable guides will select the best spots based on snow conditions and your skill level. If you have a particular area in mind or previous backcountry experience with us, let us know, and we’ll do our best to choose a route that aligns with your goals and expectations.
